Full Satchel Press is proud to announce the
forthcoming publication of Poetry for the Potty. Written by
David MacLennan (The Bathroom Bard).
(PRWEB) March 18, 2005 -- Who Said Poetry Can't
Be Fun?
Just in time for 'Poetry Month' in April, Full
Satchel Press is proud to announce the upcoming release of
David MacLennan's second book titled 'Poetry for the
Potty'.
In this era of lofty prose poetry written by
poets for other poets, MacLennan has long argued that the art
form has been hijacked by an elitist few. Poetry was once
written to be enjoyed by the average man and woman. Poetry,
MacLennan believes should be fun, readable, understandable and
not something that kids in high school roll their eyes
at.
MacLennan with a somewhat salty background says,
"He has had an affinity for writing in rhyme for about ten
years now," but adds, "he has had an affinity for the 'potty'
much longer," and says, "both are places where he likes
spending time; "and really is there a better place to read and
even write poetry?"
With over 200 poems the book offers
a refreshing look at an old art form. Or as the back cover
reads:
These poems are for the bathroom shelf, And
quiet moments all alone, When sitting down all by
yourself, And time at last’s your very own.
Now in
these moments to be read, While sitting on your comfy
can, It’s always best to think ahead, And better still
to have a plan.
So by the potty on the shelf, This
book’s a must for all your homes, For just in case to wipe
yourself, You’ll always have this book of
poems.

For Immediate Release ...
Santa’s Stormy Christmas Eve
With Christmas just around the corner, and the annual debate
about commercialism and keeping Christ in Christmas likely to begin
anew, Full Satchel Press has released Santa’s Stormy Christmas Eve.
This 32 page children’s illustrated title with its positive message,
has perhaps for the first time tied the secular Santa Claus to the
higher power and meaning of Christmas. Written in rhyming verse,
this uplifting poem reminds us that the message of Christmas is
about something even greater than Santa Claus. When a fierce snow
storm strands Santa Claus at the North Pole, it is an unexpected
visitor who shows us all that with faith and determination, miracles
can happen. For young and old alike, Santa’s Stormy Christmas Eve,
with its gentle message, helps to add perspective to what can be a
somewhat confusing season for all of us.
Illustrated by Victoria, BC artist Cheryl Parkinson, this
children’s book with its bright colours, draws upon a unique style
of painting called ‘Ink Resist'. Cheryl was born in Bristol, England
and raised in Rosemere, Quebec. She studied art at the Montreal
Museum of Fine Arts.
Author, David MacLennan, was born, raised and educated on the
West Island of Montreal. After years as a Purchasing Manager in
North Eastern Ontario, he moved to Victoria, BC in 1994. Since 1995
he has been employed by the Victoria Harbour Ferry Company as a
Ferry Skipper, and in the off season, he pursues his passion for
poetry or more specifically rhyming verse.
